2009-04-13: Perfect Copy (diffract)
Freshman Conversations
I have been in this argument. Most of the problems one can have with "perfect duplication" are with the degree of perfection one expects.
This comic is in the storyline:
- Variations
A long-running series, maybe the crux of the site. Reader submits a suggestion, and I draw three comics based on that suggestion. Originally all three had to start the same, but it evolved.
This begins a storyline which spans the following comics:
| 2009-04-13 |
Perfect Copy
Perfect Copy (diffract) |
| 2009-04-15 | Perfect Copy (box) |
| 2009-04-17 | Perfect Copy (causality) |
This comic includes the contribution:
- Daniel Adamow suggested: Noel creates a perfect duplicate of herself.
Text transcript
Noel: Ha ha! I made a perfect duplicate of myself!! Noel: I was gonna say that... Rabid: That's impossible! You weren't BOTH at my birthday party, so you're not a perfect copy!! Noel: You sure? Noel: You're probably thinking I got in a box, and then another me appeared in the other box. Rabid: Kind of... Noel: Whichever me got in the first box is the one who went to your party, so you'd be right! BUT! Noel: I actually DIFFRACTED myself, using a half-silvered mirror. Because matter is just super high frequency light... << ZAM >> Noel: We're BOTH made of the SAME stuff that was at your birthday party! Perfect copy!! Rabid: Buh!!
