2009-01-26: Abandoned Ship (coffee)
Delicious ships
The big Coffee Ships are wind powered, with huge Archimedes' screws outboard to generate electricity for lighting and such. Figuring out where this comic fits in the overall timeline shouldn't be too hard... it comes well before any comic that has a coffee shop in it. Well, any coffee shop that brews its own coffee!
This comic is in the storyline:
- Variations
A long-running series, maybe the crux of the site. Reader submits a suggestion, and I draw three comics based on that suggestion. Originally all three had to start the same, but it evolved.
This begins a storyline which spans the following comics:
| 2009-01-26 |
The Rediscovery of Coffee
Abandoned Ship (coffee) |
| 2009-01-28 | Abandoned Ship (diaspora) |
| 2009-01-30 | Abandoned Ship (hot coffee) |
This comic includes the contribution:
- Axel suggested: Rabid finds the remains of an abandoned ship.
Text transcript
Rabid: What's this? A prow!! A discovery, a find! Dr Quickly: Extraordinary! Quite certainly a Coffee Ship, the stuff of ancient legend! Rabid: Wow!! Dr Quickly: Long ago, these ships would cross the Moist Desert, with huge vacwm flasks keeping their treasure piping hot. Rabid: I wonder what Coffee was made out of, to be so valued in trade. Dr Quickly: We suppose no ships have been found before because of the terrible effect of corrosion on the vacwm chamber. Rabish: There could be Coffee inside?!
