So you're probably wondering why his solar-cell membranes weren't extended during his long sleep to recharge his battery. Sadly, in deep interstellar space, there just aren't enough photons coming in to make it worthwhile since you also have to factor in damage from space dust over the many many years.
I've been using a brush again. It's really really fun.
