2008-10-08: Scary Basement Noise (ji zhi guo tie)
Commemorative
Today was a grand day because Studio Assistant Lisa cooked potstickers. Using swiss chard and garlic from our garden, grated fresh carrots and cremini mushrooms. Dough from scratch. Potstickers are the best food! She won the Hero of the Kitchen award.
Now I just have to convince her to make them with El Gaucho Chorizos' double-smoked bacon.
In other news, I have to say: I get so frustrated and upset using the brush to draw these comics lately... but then I scale it down and it looks fun and casual and clean! I get SO UPSET. But I'm happy to be learning.
This comic is in the storyline:
- Variations
A long-running series, maybe the crux of the site. Reader submits a suggestion, and I draw three comics based on that suggestion. Originally all three had to start the same, but it evolved.
This comic includes the contribution:
- Axel suggested: Rabid is exploring a creepy basement when he hears a disquieting sound.
Text transcript
Rabid: H-hello? Is there someone down here? <<SSSSS>> Rabid: Oh! A fresh pan of potstickers!! What a lovely surprise! Rabid: While I'm eating them I'll just repair these old shoes lying nearby because it seems fair somehow. Rabish: But our house doesn't HAVE a basement!! Rabid: Oh yeah? Here's PROOF! One of the DUMPLINGS! It WASN'T a dream!! Rabish: You were eating mice?! Rabid: But... the dumplings!! Mouse: help! Rich Mouse: They fit PERFECTLY. I will pay ANY PRICE. Poor Cobbler Mouse: I think it was either a brownie or an elf. Or a pixie!
