2006-10-23: THEM (Memories)
New feature
Notice below this news box (on the main page) a new feature: you can now suggest a First Panel for me to extemporize upon. No guarantees I'll use your suggestion, but I'd be happy to see what you have to offer! And if you want to draw me one, just make a square drawing of moderate resolution and email it to me (address below).
Today's first panel comes courtesy of Zusty, who has assisted me in the past (with a photograph background). She drew this for me! The theme on which I expanded was the trailer I somehow remember seeing for the classic film THEM.
I don't know, it's not my usual sort of comic. Pop culture references? Weird.
This comic is in the storyline:
- Variations
A long-running series, maybe the crux of the site. Reader submits a suggestion, and I draw three comics based on that suggestion. Originally all three had to start the same, but it evolved.
This comic includes the contribution:
- zusty suggested: Rabid is staring at a picture frame. "It's -- it's THEM!" he cries.
Text transcript
[[Rabid is gazing in shock at a framed picture which we cannot see.]] Rabid: It's -- it's THEM! <<TERROR!!>> Rabid: Whoa that chick is, like, UG-LEE!! A Giant Ant: Word to that! <<HORROR!!>> Rabid: What do you mean, "SOLD OUT"?! A Giant Ant: AHHH! NOOOO!! <<EXCITEMENT!!>> Rabid: Let's play a video game on my video game system! A Giant Ant: Right on! <<MYSTERY!!>> Rabid: Did YOU eat my DONUT?! A Giant Ant: Dont' worry -- we can still share via TROPHALLAXIS!! Rabid: I miss those giant radioactive ants. It is very sad they got sick and died.
